MICHIGAN MOTORIZED RECREATION COUNCIL

On Tuesday, March 13th, the House Committee of Tourism, Outdoor Recreation and Natural Resources, chaired by Representative Joel Sheltrown (D) 103 voted 11-0 to move HB 4323 to the floor of the House with the highest recommendation possible for passage in the House.

That action could happen at any time, but is expected within the next 2-3 weeks.

Opposition to the Bill remains with CRAM, County Road Association of Michigan and MDOT, Michigan Department of Transportation.

The most successful effort thus far by user groups has been e-mails, to the point where staffers are complaining about the hundreds that come in daily.

That effort MUST be continued, to different addresses.

The current plan calls for a letter to YOUR State Representative, stating how much money you have invested, how much it means to you and your family in recreational opportunity, how much you spend annually on ORV activity. A simple “I support 4323” is O.K., but not the best.

In addition, we strongly encourage all those who are a stakeholder of some sort, do the same. If your livelihood depends in part on ORV activity, by all means, send an e-mail on your letterhead if possible. They need to hear from every business owner in northern Michigan at the Capitol.

Make your e-mails as short as possible, make certain, in the closing, you give your full name and address. BE SURE TO, cc. THE GOVERNOR!
